Welcome to the 12th Biennial Congress of the
European Society for Health and Medical Sociology - ESHMS
Oslo University College, Norway, 28 – 30 August 2008
ESHMS’s aim is to contribute to a pan-European discussion of health and society in Europe. The ESHMS encourages and promotes analyses of health inequalities, health policies and health reforms in European countries as well as research into social aspects of health, medicine and medical care. This upcoming congress centres on recent social and economic changes affecting health and health care in European countries, with a specific focus on the East/West divide as well as on social disparities within the two parts of Europe. Whilst keynote lectures and thematic sessions will highlight these developments, a wide range of topics within the sociology of health and illness will also be represented.
Oslo University College is honoured to host this biennial event and cordially invites you to participate. The city of Oslo welcomes all participants and will serve as a vibrant setting for productive discussions, meetings and social events.
