Philosophy with children
Philosophy with children, is a way to work with questions and problems in all school subjects and in pre-school activity. Doing philosophy helps to develop a critical mind, oral skills and democratic ability.
Course description
The course is based on practical work. The students shall do philosophy together, as well as attend lectures about philosophy with children and history of philosophy. Throughout the course, the students will develop better strategies for thinking and an ability to lead students in philosophical inquiries.
Main activities:
- philosophical inquiries
- presentation of different material and methods for use in school
- lectures about philosophical pedagogy and different “schools” in philosophy with children
- lectures about history of philosophy
The target group for this course is teacher education students, early childhood education students, practicing teachers and pre-school teachers, individuals working with children/young people on a voluntary basis, as well as those with a general interest in philosophy
